Learn To Crochet In 5 Easy Steps
Step 1: Choose A Pattern
Unless you really need a crochet dishcloth, don't just start with a dishcloth. Start with something fun that sparks your imagination!
There are several primary pattern sources used most frequently by crocheters all over the world. Discover what they are and be able to find a beginner project that appeals to you or your most immediate crochet goals.
Step 2: Choose A Yarn
Yarn comes in a beautiful variety of thicknesses and fiber content. In fact, you might already have yarn substitutes lying around your house that you didn't even know could be used as yarn!
Step 3: Choose A Hook
Crochet hooks come in all kinds of crazy sizes and materials. It's likely that you even have some crochet hook alternatives that you could use right now without having to go out and buy anything!
Step 4: Learn The Crochet Stitches
There are tons of fun ways to take your yarn and hook for a spin together with the crochet stitch dictionary - plus, new combinations being experimented with and invented every day! But don't begin by trying to learn them all today.
Start with the basic building blocks required for your first pattern ONLY.
Then add new crochet stitches to your skillset later, when you need them for subsequent patterns.
Step 5: Do The Thing
Make the pattern that you chose, using the crochet stitches you now know.
Ask questions & get crochet help as you need it.
Then, most importantly, enjoy your crochet creations and revel in your awesomeness as a maker.
